David Wallace-Wells on One Billion Americans

When I talk about this idea with people in my social circle, no objection comes up as frequently as concerns about climate change. I tried to take this seriously when working on the book, but of course you never know what people are going to find convincing. So I was nervous about showing the book to David Wallace-Wells, best-selling author of The Uninhabitable Earth, and was very gratified to see that he liked the book.

Audacious, purposefully provocative and yet utterly persuasive, ONE BILLION AMERICANS does what the best works of political nonfiction do, recalibrating our sense of not just what is possible but what is necessary. American decline isn’t inevitable, as much as it seems to be. We can avoid it if we try.
